The majority of our packaging materials have either been recycled (often from packaging we receive our orders in) or can themselves be recycled.
The cardboard boxes we use, can be recycled at a recycling point or you could give them a new lease of life by letting your children decorate them with pens, glitter, pom-poms, photos etc. and then storing their treasures in them. You could even take them outside, make air holes in them, stick leaves and twigs on and then collect snails and keep them safe in their new home. My two youngest children started this "hobby" last summer holiday and after initial reservations (from me) it turned out to be surprisingly successful!
They looked after their new "family members " very carefully, gave them names, made sure they were comfortable, let them go for walks, fed them, tucked them up at bedtime and released them at the end of the holiday.
If you don't fancy snail keeping, our brown paper and card make great additions to the compost heap.
